show obsession…

June 30th, 2006

Ok, so I am officially obsessed with the show House (hopefully you have seen it).  Hugh Laurie (i.e. Dr. House) is sooo funny/sarcastic/cynical, I just love to watch him.  I liked him in sense and sensibility (jane austen movie) several years back as well.  Anyways, I rented season 1 on netflix and am about 1/2 way through now.  Missed it the first time around, partially cause it was on the same time as scrubs…so thank goodness for DVDs!

I also heard that joan of arcadia season 2 is supposed to be released on DVD in september, fingers crossed…

I really do stuff other than watch tv, I promise.  That just happens to be the theme for today.  I am also trying to take a little more time to relax this summer (fewer weekly commitments in general) cause I need some down time, didn’t have much this spring with all the traveling, etc. that I was doing.  So its about time! :)

great news GH fans!

According to a recent update on soap central’s website, Genie Francis (Laura of Luke and Laura on general hospital) will be returning for a couple months starting in October.  It apparently coincides with the 25th anniversary of Luke and Laura’s wedding (I obviously didn’t watch back then…).  She left the show in 2002 and since then, they only show Luke visiting her in the mental hospital and show the back of some fake Laura’s head.  She has always been unresponsive when he visits her, but yesterday when he visited she moved her hand up to her shoulder where his hand had been just as he left the room!  So he didn’t even get to see it, sigh….  I know, I’m lame, but I am still going to be counting down the days until she gets back!

Not sure how she will only stick around for a few months though, seems that that won’t be enough for fans, it does coincide with November sweeps though, shocker!

movie update…

June 30th, 2006

So I went to see the break up a few weeks ago with my friend val.  I was torn because on one hand I did enjoy the actors together (vince vaughn and jennifer aniston) and there were definitely some cute parts, there was just wayyy too much real life in it.  It was too much like watching people go through a painful break-up in real life.  I understand that some people like to see movies that they can relate to and that are more “real”…I, however, am very rarely one of those people (hello?  I am obsessed with soaps??), I enjoy movies for the escape they provide….if I wanted to watch the annoying and painful parts of real life, I would just look around me and not have to pay $10 for it.

I have been really bad at this updating thing lately, but I actually do promise to work on being better at it (like I was when I started it months ago), I have just been really stressed and distracted about figuring out plans for the fall lately and just haven’t been able to get myself to stop worrying about that long enough to think about other stuff.  I am really working on changing that though :)

Tonight I am planning on seeing the devil wears prada and will post an update on here about what I thought of it.  And pirates of the caribbean 2 is coming up as well soon!  YAY!  I hate that dry spell that always comes along in the spring where movies are concerned, there is very rarely anything I really want to see that time of year.

updates…

June 20th, 2006

Yeah, I have been (once again) pretty bad at updating this lately.  Mostly just because I am coming off of traveling so much and pretty much just don’t feel like doing much of anything in the evenings lately (other than exercising or something).

The weather was actually decent this past weekend for a change, so I went down to see my sister and went hiking with her and jim.  The photos from that can be found here.  Pretty soon I will post a video I took of their dog (Tika) cause I promised gillian I would.  Just keep forgetting.  Was a nice day for a hike cause it was in the low 80s and not too humid really.  Sunday we had a big family party at my uncle charlie’s place (about 60 or so people there) and it was 95 - hottest day of the year so far.  I am not a big fan of anything above 70 so that was excruciating for me.

Am planning on trying out some combat hapkido classes…its a korean self defense/martial arts type class.  Going to try it out starting next week, the place I am going has a free trial of it so I can try it out before I need to start paying for it.  I have been pretty obsessed with exercising and stuff lately, so I figured this could be something fun/interesting to add to my list of things to do.  Am considering trying out tae kwon do after that as well…but haven’t made up my mind on that yet.  The place I am going offers both, so figured I could ask some questions about it, etc.  Its something different to get out and do anyways, and I have been needing that lately.  We will see how it goes!
