So my friends paul and sarah entered their daughter levity into a photo contest on shutterfly.  I encourage you to vote for her here :)

So I am saving up for this…

yamahaviola_lg.gif

Its an electric viola made by Yamaha that I came across recently.  Have been playing the viola for about 18 years now and thought this would be a fun addition to my practicing/playing :)   Really should take my cello out of the closet too…haven’t played it in a while…hmmm….

movie reviews…

July 24th, 2006

So I went to see a couple movies this past weekend so figured I would provide a few updates on them…

On Friday I went to see lady in the water with paul and sarah (i promise I don’t give away any major plot elements in this paragraph).  It wasn’t what I expected from previews (it was much funnier than I expected, though it had its more suspenseful times as well), but that was a good thing overall, I thought.  Have noticed that many critics don’t care for it (though you might see why in the portrayal of the film critic character in the movie :)), but, luckily for me, I have my own brain and choose to make up my own mind about movies rather than listening to what the lame, old critics have to say about stuff (almost never agree with them anyways).  It was refreshing to watch an original movie, during a time when most movies are remakes or sequels.  I really enjoyed it, would have been even better if we didn’t have the most obnoxious teenagers ever sitting behind us and talking throughout the whole movie.  Can’t stand kids like that, have no idea how middle/high school teachers deal with them cause I simply don’t have any patience for it.

Then on saturday sarah and I went to see superman returns, which I loved :)   I always liked the original movies and loved christopher reeves in the part.  I thought they did a really good job continuing that story and I loved kevin spacey as lex luther :)   I actually had to remind myself a couple of times that it wasn’t christopher reeves doing the part (especially during clark kent scenes), brandon routh (superman) did a really good job I thought.  Kate Bosworth did a good job as lois lane, but then I am not much of a margot kidder fan (from the original movies) so most actresses would be an improvement.  I also really liked that they used the archived footage of marlon brando as superman’s dad (jor-el), rather than re-making those parts.  And I love the superman music!

So overall, recommend both lady in the water and superman returns, very good movies :)

registered…

July 23rd, 2006

So I registered for the class I am taking at columbia on friday…taking principles of industrial electrochemistry…I won’t bore you with that class description, cause if the name doesn’t give anything away to you, then I guarantee you would be bored with the description :)

Anyways, just a relief to register and stuff…now I just have to get my payment in before the semester starts in september…
