denver arrival…

November 8th, 2006

So the flight to denver was nice and smooth and got my bags and rental car easily (love hertz club gold!). Its a really clear night out so the view of downtown denver when I drove in was really pretty.

Am staying at the brown palace, which is really nice. A remodeled historic building (with really good room service).

Made me wish I brought a camera to take a couple photos of the room. Its cute, different than the usual chain hotel. The outside of the building reminds me of some of the buildings in troy, only prettier on the inside and a little cleaner on the outside :) . Anyways, time to go to sleep pretty soon.

charlotte…

November 8th, 2006

So I had planned on leaving on a 1:30 flight through philadelphia but that flight was canceled due to weather. Luckily I always get to the airport early, so I was able to get the last seat on a flight through charlotte that left around 12:45. I have a 3 hour layover here in charlotte, but plan to spend the rest of that reading moby dick.

I was very excited to see that right next to my gate here there is a great american bagel shop (same as the one I recently discovered in ohare airport!). YAY! Another asiago cheese bagel for me!

Was sitting in the very last seat on the plane (like directly next to the flight attendant seat, right across from the bathroom). If you have never flown in the very last row of the plane, don’t let someone tell you its just as good as the other seats. It isn’t. You feel vibrations and turbulence more, its noisier, you can’t recline your seat but unfortunately the guy in front of you can so, if you have long legs like I do, your knees hit against the seat in front of you the whole time. Luckily the flight wasn’t too long. The last half felt much longer though, since the guy I was sitting next to talked the whole time. I don’t usually mind that but I wasn’t feeling too well and couldn’t hear him really well so I smiled and nodded for a good 45 minutes. For some reason the guy assumed I was traveling so I could sell time shares. No idea where he got that from, though I may have accidentally agreed with something he said earlier to give him that impression. Not sure what that would be though unless he actually asked “do you sell time shares?”, which seems like an odd question.

Oh well…pretty sure I have a middle seat for the flight to denver so I’m guessing its going to be a long flight. My knees hurt just thinking about it…

At least I was able to get on the charlotte flight and had a really good bagel :)
