work, work, and…hmm…more work?

September 24th, 2007

That sums up my weekend.  Took off work early on friday and watched lectures/did homework.  Then spent all saturday doing homework.  Then went to church sunday morning, came home, did homework and then did work for my actual job.  Am traveling to rhode island for a conference tomorrow and haven’t really started getting ready for that.

Just found out I have a bunch of homework due this weekend, so get to do that in the hotel during my “free” time.  Keeping my fingers crossed for good room service there.

Is it december yet?  Am really looking forward to that break between semesters.  Speaking of school, think today is a really good day to be a distance learning student at columbia…not a day I would want to be on campus…all things considered

irish music, etc.

September 17th, 2007

So I spent most of my weekend at the irish 2000 music festival at altamont fairgrounds.  Had a really good time :)   Was pretty cold on saturday and windy, with no place warmer to go really, but had fun anyways.  Really enjoyed flogging molly, enter the haggis, greenwhich meantime, young dubliners and seven nations.  Was nice to have a break from grad school-related stuff for a while too :)   More than I can say for this coming weekend, which I expect to be filled primarily with homework.

Also went to the new ll bean store that opened in colonie center this weekend, was really packed with people, good size store and nice to have one so close to where I live.  Though, as I said earlier, the store in maine with always be my favorite :)   Have never seen that many people at colonie center before, so am thinking there is very little chance that I will go to the store between thanksgiving and christmas when I am guessing it will just be insanely busy (though I generally try to avoid shopping in malls at all that time of year anyway).

so very ugly…

I can honestly say that this is the ugliest car I have ever seen.

weekend…

September 10th, 2007

My weekend was ok, spent most of saturday doing homework, but finished it, so at least the time spent was productive.  Then sunday, I went to church in the morning, did some reading and watched some tv I had recorded.  It was oscar wilde night on turner classic movies on saturday so had recorded a few movies.  Watched a version of the picture of dorian gray from 1945 that I didn’t care for much, didn’t think the casting or the acting was particularly impressive.  Donna Reed does not belong in oscar wilde under any circumstances, in my opinion.  Have decided that it is a story that is more enjoyable to read than watch though.

Also watched a 1944 version of the canterville ghost (also oscar wilde…though different from his usual style of writing) that I enjoyed, thought it was entertaining, which is the primary purpose of that story really, in my opinion.  Thought margarent o’brien was good in her role.

Am currently working my way through how green was my valley, picked it up at the library the other day.  Is an interesting read so far, will see if I have time to finish it with everything else going on right now.

llbean! YAY!

September 7th, 2007

So excited about the grand opening of llbean next weekend, YAY!  Love going to their store in maine (which will still be my favorite, I’m sure), but am looking forward to having one much closer (even if it means that I will now have to pay taxes on online orders).  Guess I know where I have to go next weekend sometime :)
