movie updates and such…

May 29th, 2008

It seems that every month I get a little worse at actually remembering to post on here…very bad habit, but comes with being really busy I suppose.  Since my last post I have finished my corrosion class and started my summer class, principles of construction techniques, which, so far, promises to be a really interesting one.  Down to my last 3 classes for grad school (including this semester), so there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

I went to see prince caspian twice in theaters and highly recommend it (obviously, or I wouldn’t have gone twice)!  The first time was opening weekend when I went with my parents, there was a very bratty kid behind us, but still enjoyable anyway!  Then I went to see it again this past weekend with my friend Val, a much quieter experience and it still holds up well on the second viewing.  Never really sure about sequels, but I thought this was a very worthy follow-up to the first film.

Then last week I went to see the new Indiana Jones movie with the kulps on opening day, not a particularly profound movie (didn’t expect it to be), but was a lot of fun and also recommended! :)    Last crusade is still my favorite, but that is a tough one to beat, in my opinion.

Other than that, I am going to see my parents this weekend to take them out to dinner for their anniversary (which is today), enjoying the nice weather (finally!) and still plugging away at learning Hungarian.  Definitely a very interesting language, am really enjoying learning it.

That’s it for now…

hungary trip and such…

April 18th, 2008

So I have been a horrible slacker about posting about this, but am finally getting around to posting about my trip to Hungary.  To summarize, I loved Hungary.  Budapest was a beautiful city, the food was great everywhere we went (had the best pizza I had had in years, was very similar to NYC-style, which I sadly never really find in albany), was pretty easy to get around speaking English (though I am currently working on learning Hungarian), Vac (a small town outside Budapest that we stayed in for a few days) was beautiful.  The guy who ran the bed and breakfast we stayed at there was a very interesting character.  It was great to see several different areas of the country and I loved being able to work with customers and consultants in person after talking to them on the phone for 3 or 4 years.  I was very spoiled being able to get more work done there than is typically possible over conference calls.  It was a wonderful trip and I really hope to be able to get back there again!

If you are interested, pictures from Budapest are here (first few are just the view outside my hotel in Budapest, could see part of the Danube) and the pictures from Vac are here.  This photo of Parliament is one of my favorites:

off to hungary…

March 20th, 2008

So Saturday my co-worker Rich and I are traveling to Hungary for work for a week.  Expect to have a day or so to look around and will actually meet people I have been talking to on the phone for years, so I am looking forward to that :)   Will be in the plane most of the day Easter Sunday, but oh well.  Seeing Budapest should be an interesting experience, never been to europe before.  Spent the last couple evenings researching some hungarian pronunciation so I can attempt a few basic phrases at least.

Very busy getting ready since we just found out we were going 2 days ago, taking tomorrow off from work and visiting my family.  That’s it for now…will post pictures when I get back and may post an update when I am there if I successfully connect to the internet.

california…

March 14th, 2008

So I am in california this week.  Wednesday I got into san diego, had a meeting yesterday.  Then traveled up to sacramento last night and had a meeting here today.  Got in at 1:30 am last night, so was pretty tired when I got here.  My flight was delayed 2 hours.  Heading back tomorrow.  Am ready to be home, though it has been nice to see the sun for longer periods of time.

Flew through my least favorite airport on Wednesday, las vegas…loud drunk people on the plane, annoying slot machine sounds in the airport while you wait for your next flight…not enjoyable considering it’s a 5 hour flight from albany to vegas.

Not much else really new here, mostly just been studying for the pe and grad school lately.  Ready for all that to be done!

That’s it for now…

funny…

February 28th, 2008

Not a big coffee drinker anymore (can’t really take the caffeine), but my cousin jen blogged about this and I thought it was pretty funny, since the customer they interview is also my cousin (jamie).  Kind of random :)
