Rachel Farnum
A musical journey through the decades

Rachel Farnum
Bio

Rachel’s love of music started from a very young age and was encouraged by her mother. She has played various instruments over the years, though her main instruments are viola, which she has played since she was 8, violin, guitar, and tenor recorder. Her first efforts on guitar were focused on classical style until she discovered her true passion for accompanying her vocals on guitar.
“If I close my eyes, I could swear I was listening to Joni Mitchell” are words Rachel has heard from many people who have listened to her vocals. But she doesn't stop there. Rachel has a wide range of musical interests, though her focus lately has been on folk music.
Rachel enjoys the feeling of being transported to a different time through music, whether it be through folk music from the 60s and 70s, 80s classics that she heard throughout elementary school or alternative rock from the 90s that defined her middle school and high school years. She aims to bring her audience along on that nostalgic journey using her vocal and instrumental talents. For her younger audience members, she hopes to foster an interest in some timeless classics!
Rachel performs in NY’s Capital District area where she resides with her many dogs and cats, who mostly tolerate her musical activities around the house!
